Tell us who you are, what you do, and the name of your brand.

Bongiwe Mpanza:
My name is Bongiwe Mpanza. I am a fashion designer, entrepreneur, and the founder of Mawazo Designs. I create sustainable linen wear, outdoor wear, and custom-designed pieces. My work is guided by a love for thoughtful design and a desire to create clothing that feels intentional, meaningful, and wearable.

How did being part of Kwande Fest contribute to your journey or mindset as a creative or entrepreneur?

Bongiwe:
Being part of Kwande Fest from 2023 to 2024 really opened up my mindset and expanded my vision as an entrepreneur. It allowed me to connect with a creative community that pushes boundaries and encourages growth. The experience reminded me of the importance of collaboration and being open to learning from others.

How would you describe your brand or design style?

Bongiwe:
Mawazo Designs blends African-inspired fashion with elegance and eco-conscious values. Our brand is for everyone who wants to feel unique in their style while wearing clothing that is thoughtfully made and sustainable.

What kind of exposure or conversations did Kwande Fest create for you?

Bongiwe:
Kwande Fest introduced me to both the creative industry and potential clients. It reinforced the idea that creativity truly thrives within community, and that shared spaces like this help creatives grow, learn, and be seen.

What advice would you give to creatives preparing for Kwande Fest 2026?

Bongiwe:
Be willing to learn and relearn. Stay authentic, network fearlessly, and showcase your unique brand with confidence. Most importantly, don’t forget to grab every opportunity with both hands.
